World Population Day, 11 July

As the world population reaches beyond 8 billion and grows towards even higher numbers, care must be needed to ensure a good and happy way of life and empowerment for all, especially for youth.

This World Day follows all Sustainable Development Goals.

Nelson Mandela International Day, 18 July

Declared on July 18th 2009 by the United Nations, the Nelson Mandela International
Day recognizes his accomplishments and achievements in bettering human rights and values. He devoted his life to the service of humanity as a human rights lawyer, a prisoner of conscience, an international peacemaker, and the first democratically elected president of a free South Africa.

This World Day follows the Sustainable Development Goals 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).

International Day of Friendship, 30 July

The International Day of Friendship was adopted by the United Nations in 1997 from a UNESCO proposal, and proclaimed officially in 2011. It aims to promote friendship and positive ties for the sake of peace and connectivity. This involves encouraging and promoting youth and governments “to the efforts of the international community towards promoting a dialogue among civilizations, solidarity, mutual understanding and reconciliation.”

This World Day follows the Sustainable Development Goals 3(Good Health and Well-Being) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
