1 in 8 people rely on wetlands as part of their daily life, which cover 6% of the world, but they are under threat by growth and consumption and climate change. 35% of them have been lost within the past 50 years. Effort must be taken to protect and conserve these precious ecosystems.
This World Day follows the Sustainable Development Goals 13 (Climate Action), 14 (Life Below Water), and 15 (Life On Land).

Pulses are water-efficient biodiverse foods used in a variety of places worldwide, and are a strong pillar of sustainable development.
This World Day follows the Sustainable Development Goals 1 (No Poverty), 2 (Zero Hunger), 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), 5 (Gender Equality), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), 13 (Climate Action, and 15 (Life On Land).

On 15th June 2023, the United Nations proclaimed this day to recognize this critically endangered animal with only over 200 left in the wild of the Arabian Peninsula.
